For almost four decades, Cultural Rhythms has drawn the Harvard community together to celebrate the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of the Harvard College student body. This year, Cultural Rhythms offers 8 public events, including the return of the Cultural Rhythms Food Festival. Tickets are available for purchase through the Harvard Box Office.

 

The 37th Annual Cultural Rhythms show will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 6pm on its home stasge at Sanders Theatre. Issa Rae has been selected as the 2023 Harvard Foundation Artist of the Year. A trailblazing writer, producer, actress, and entrepreneur, Issa Rae will receive the annual Artist of the Year Award, which honors an individual’s contributions to equity, inclusion, and cross-cultural dialogue in the arts. Past Artist of the Year recipients include Lady Gaga, Taraji P. Henson, Lucy Lui, Salma Hayek, Viola Davis, Will Smith, Shakira, and Eva Longoria, among others. Issa Rae embodies the values of Cultural Rhythms and the Harvard Foundation. Her voice and artistic contributions to music, film, television, and business reflect a firm and unapologetic commitment to social justice, community engagement, and innovation.

Cultural Rhythms will once again show the vibrancy and splendor of Harvard cultural performing groups. Our full schedule of events offers opportunities to see dazzling performances, hear from prominent artists, and create and express yourself! We look forward to being in community once again! 

 

Monday 3/20

CR37 Artist Reveal
Cultural Rhythms Kick-Off & Artist of the Year Reveal

Want to be one of the first to find out who this year’s Artist of the Year is? Join us for our Cultural Rhythms Kick-Off & Artist of the Year Reveal, taking place at the Science Center Central Arcade on Monday, March 20th from 5-6:30pm! We will have free churros, popcorn, cotton candy, and swag! During the event, we will reveal our Artist of the Year at Science Center Lecture Hall B! Past Artist of the Year recipients include Taraji P. Henson, Lady Gaga, Rubén Blades, Lucy Lui, Salma Hayek, Viola Davis, Will Smith, Eva Longoria and Janet Mock. 

Paint Night with Fuerza Latina

Join us for a fun Paint Night with Fuerza Latina, taking place at the Harvard Foundation, Grays Hall, Lower Level on Monday, March 20th from 7-9pm! Your attendance will enter you into a raffle to our Artist of the Year Luncheon on Saturday, March 25th at 3:30pm!

 Join us for an illuminating and engaging dialogue, entitled "Serving Brown with Professor Karthik Pandian and Anthony Romero", at the Harvard Foundation. As part of the CR37 week-long celebration, we will be hearing about the perspectives, artistic approach, and joint projects of Prof. Karthik Pandian, Harvard Assistant Professor of Art, Film, and Visual Studies and Anthony Romero, AFVS visiting faculty member.

Reserve your tickets for the Harvard Foundation’s Cultural Rhythms Food Festival, which will take place on Friday, March 24th from 2-4pm in Harvard Yard, Old Yard (in front of the John Harvard statue!) We will be hosting a block party, where you will be able to enjoy delicious food from around the world, provided by 20 cultural student organizations!

-In-person at the Harvard Box Office in Smith Campus Center (to avoid the processing fee)

-Through the SEF portal
-With Cash upon entry at the event

Tickets are $10 with HUID, $15 without HUID, or free for SEF-Eligible students. Tickets will give you access to a meal card, where you will get to try food from your choice of 5 different student organizations.
